Elusive Words

20 02 2010

Today was the first day of spring in Shanghai, warm and sunny. I was walking around the city with my woman and we came around this man in a park, who was writing chinese characters on the ground with a brush and water, so the characters would vanish just within moments. I have no idea what he was writing and what the reason behind his doing was. Maybe it was a political protest, an expression of his feelings, a form of art or simply an exercise in caligraphy? However, what caught me on the spot was the beauty of written words that last only for an elusive moment and disappear without leaving a trace behind.
